Dominick Cura is a filmmaker, photographer, editor and author

Having grown up in Washington State, Dominick spent his youth exploring the wilderness of the nearby mountains and gaining a yearning for exploration and adventure. At the same time, his passion for telling stories through photos and videos evolved. A desire to combine both passions of the outdoors and filmmaking led to several self-made videos of hikes and later his travels.

At age 12, he self-published his own gluten-free cookbook after a diagnosis of Celiac Disease 3 years prior.

The thrill for adventure only grew when he embarked on a gap year backpacking trip after high school. He traveled mostly on his own through Europe and Asia where he learned the importance of making connections, budgeting, and solving logistical problems independently.

Following the year off, he moved to New York state to study film at Ithaca College. Throughout his college career and despite COVID-19 in the middle of it, he worked on several peers’ short films where he held various roles on set and made lasting connections.

In 2020, he gathered local talent from his hometown of Seattle to create his short film debut, “Color of the Sky,” a collaboration with a group of strangers brought together after the isolation of the pandemic. His college career culminated with the creation of his thesis film entitled, “Dawn Rising.”

Thanks to his appreciation for traveling, Dominick loves to emphasize stories of different cultures and unique experiences in his work. He speaks Spanish, Italian and some Levantine Arabic.

Identity is a large part of storytelling, and Dominick strives to incorporate his Argentine and Italian heritage as well as his queer identity into all the work that he does.

At the moment, Dominick is looking for physical job opportunities in film or television as a Production Assistant, Assistant Director or Director.
